Don’t let the media play your mind – A different view on the “Remembering Michael Jackson ” documentary and fallout

imagesG2CVJVKPSo, once again the media aim their arrows at the Jackson family. Interesting how this happens the second they announced they want a retrial after the jury from the first trail felt they had been “cheated” and had wanted to find AEG guilty.
Of course the media does not overtly proclaim that this is the reason for new fake reports (La Toya’s non existing wedding anyone?,) and demonising of the family, it just slowly tries to brainwash unsuspecting people against the entire family.

The announcement that Katherine wants to create a documentary about her son, Michael Jackson (cue journalists sharping their knives) through crowd funding (cue TMZ getting ready with more ‘money hungry blacks’ headlines) featuring Prince, Paris and Blanket (Bingo, we have a winner!! “Money Grabbing Granny Pimping Michael’s kids for cash!”) proved the right ammunition to start their campaign.

Nobody (not even some of Michael’s fans) considered the possibility that Michael’s children might have wanted this documentary, to finally get their story out without media meddling.
Considering how much they loved their father, imagine how much it must have hurt them to see the lies in the media about how he raised them, and worse: to read he treated them badly.
The only way for them to get out the truth, their story about their father, the way they want it, is to make their own documentary.
Don’t forget: Prince wants to be a director and documentary maker (he is said to have edited the footage of his father’s career shown in court in the last week of the AEG trail) so it could have been his idea.

A clear sign about how much the media plays the minds of the public and most people simply believing what they read is that everyone is saying Joseph Jackson wants to train Blanket to follow in Michael’s footsteps after a fortune teller told him about his talent.
Correction: The fortune teller told him about Michael’s talent, not Blanket’s. Also, all Joseph said was that Blanket was talented and could be a star if he received proper training. Never once did Joseph say that HE was the one doing, or wanting to do, the training.

So, on to the “crowd funding” part. TMZ has immediately jumped on to this, of course, to perpetuate the myth of the myth of those broke Jacksons shaking the fans. Not many realise that the reason TMZ do this is to continue the black stereotype of broke stealing blacks. Well, after a week in which TMZ asked their black readers to vote for wanting to be called either Afro-American or Nigga, we all know how high TMZ rates the black community. (Even Ebony Magazine have officially said: “TMZ, you’re dead to us”)
Sadly a few people knowing the truth doesn’t stop it from lies being reported around the world and millions believing it and spreading it on.

There is nothing wrong with celebrities using crowd funding to create their projects, hundreds including Spike Lee and Bootsy Collins have used it. Seeing you not only get the finished product but also special rewards it means that in the end you simply buy a product you’d have bought anyway and also help the artist. More and more artists are drawn to this way of funding their projects, to bring their work to the fans without meddling from managers and companies.
Katherine needs the money, not just to pay for usage of Michael’s music and video from Thriller onwards, but for the documentary to be shown, unedited by third parties.

The bigger question is: why does the Estate refuse Katherine access to the material from her own son and why do they charge her so much money to use it?

Hypocritically the Estate responds with another outright attack on Katherine, saying: “The Estate would never ask Michael’s fans to contribute their money to finance any speculative project. The Estate will continue to release only the highest quality finished, professional projects showcasing the genius and humanity of Michael such as the ‘This is It’ film and the 2 very successful shows with Cirque du Soleil.”

The Estate ignores the fact that their “highest quality” products have been proven fake on many occasions – parts of “This Is It” have been proven fake, songs on their “Michael” album were fake, as was the hologram used in their Cirque du Soleil tour. Interestingly the media decided to ignore these facts for the most part.

The latest rumour is that Katherine wants the fans’ money to help Jermaine. For the last time (though probably not) Jermaine does not need the money, neither do the other brothers.
Jermaine is – after Janet and La Toya probably the riches Jackson sibling alive. He is a clever investor and also earns about half a million each year in royalties.
This year he and his company earned millions because of several big deals made in Asia (a TV show, water sponsorship etc.)

The alimony problems the media revel in have nothing to do with whether Jermaine is broke or not, but with disagreements with his children’s mother.
The biggest one being that his children live with him and his wife for most of the year – why should he pay her if she doesn’t care for them.
Other reasons are more personal and should not be in the public domain.

Whether the documentary will be good or not remains to be seen, but see it for yourself. Don’t let the media control your opinion.
